The dScience Partner Program is the University of Oslo's collaboration with participants from Norwegian businesses and the public sector. The program was established to develop and carry out projects, as well as to engage in long-term capacity building in areas that are particularly important for Norway.
The partner program aims to:
- Create greater value from data and digital resources
- Contribute to the green transition of society and business
- Contribute to the development of profitable jobs
- Take strong international positions in selected fields
The dScience partner program covers important topics such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, digital twin technology, data management, and knowledge representation and reasoning.

Bridging the gap between research and innovation to benefit society
The Partner Program will develop ways of collaboration that fill the ?gap between long-term academic research and reactive contract research. The program invites strategic partners to propose important and particularly challenging topics that require fundamental development. This will play an important role in fostering innovation across both societal and business domains, leading the way in shaping emerging trends. Its primary focus is on generating high-quality solutions and answers to address critical challenges and questions, all while bolstering national competitiveness. The program places a strong emphasis on urgency and agility, recognising the dynamic landscape in which it operates.
The Partner Program is organised into three pillars:
1. Projects
- Normal research projects with PhDs and postdocs (3-5 years)

Advanced ?impact studies? (6-18 months)
2. People
- Recruitment activities? (e.g. interns, summer jobs)
- Industrial-/public ?- PhD-program (NFR)
- Lifelong learning? (courses)
- Network activities? (national and international)
3. Capacities
Identifying and building long term research and education capacities within selected topics.

As of now, Kongsberg Gruppen, the Southern and Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority, Equinor, DNB, DNV, City of Oslo and NBIM (the Norges Bank Investment Management) are participating in the dScience partner program, and more businesses and public sector entities are expected to join.

DSTrain
DSTrain (Data Science Training) is a 5-year programme providing 36 postdoctoral fellowships in data science, aimed at fostering Europe's next digital leaders with a broad spectrum of skills for cross-sectoral impact.
The programme is cofounded by EU and organised by dScience. The researchers will be employed at The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UiO.
Integreat
Integreat is a?Centre of Excellence funded by the Research Council of Norway?(2023-2033). The Centre aims to advance machine learning by merging specific expertise and data to elevate Norway as a key AI player, solving critical societal issues.
Integreat is hosted by the University of Oslo, with partners The Arctic University of Norway and?Norwegian Computing Center. The Centre will receive 155 million kroner in support from the Research Council over the next ten years.
Integreat will conduct research projects within the DSTrain program and collaborates closely with dScience on various activities.
NORA.ai
NORA – Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Research Consortium – is a Norwegian collaboration between 8 universities, 3 university colleges and 5 research institutes within AI, machine learning and robotics. Their goals are strengthening Norwegian research, education and innovation within these fields.
NORA collaborates closely with dScience on various activities.
Oslo Science City
The innovation district Oslo Science City is Norway's most knowledge-intensive area, home to the country's top university, the largest hospital in the Nordic region, internationally leading research institutes, one of Europe's largest business schools, and dynamic startup environments.
The dScience Partner Program is part of Oslo Science City and collaborates on several activties.
