The university-affiliated choir Akademisk Korforening and Bislett Boys' Choir with singers from Ensemble Rex present an English evening in the University Aula. The programme includes John Rutter's melodic Requiem, a work that the choirs will perform together with a small chamber ensemble and a song soloist.

In addition, the audience also get to experience other gems from the English song literature, including classical compositions, folk songs and shanties arranged for a cappella choir and for choir and soloists/accompaniment.

John Rutter is among the most frequently performed choir composers who are alive today. In his beautiful Requiem, he has put to music the Latin mass, but also more well-known hymns such as "Lord is my shepherd" are represented. Rutter uses both Latin and English in this work, which was completed in 1985.

Soloists: Vera Talerko – soprano, Stian Carstensen – accordion, Julian Saxl – violin and song

Conductors: Gjermund Bj?rklund and Marius Astrup Thoresen.
