Exceptions to the name requirement for mailing lists

Normally, the local part of the mailing list address, i.e. the part before @, must either contain at least nine letters/numbers or a hyphen. The list below contains names that are exempt from this requirement.

When the postmaster receives applications for new exemptions, these are the principles that govern what is and is not approved:

  1. The name should be general enough that several units at UiO can use the name.
  2. The name must clearly describe what the list will be used for.
  3. There should not already be a user account with the same name.
  4. The person(s) requesting the exception must be related to the list name. For example, only administrative staff at a given unit can be assigned admin@unit.
  5. Granting the exemption must provide a clear advantage.

Note that the list below is exceptions that have been given previously. It is not automatic that people in the future are granted the same exemption. A prerequisite for this to happen is that the lists will be used in the same way, i.e. for the same purpose but by different units.
