Two-factor authentication for Feide and Microsoft 365

At UiO, there is two-factor authentication for all employees and students for Microsoft 365 and services with Feide login.

Not sure when and where you'll encounter two-factor authentication?

Two-factor on Microsoft 365 and Feide

You may encounter requirements for two-factor authentication (login approval) when you log in to Microsoft 365 (OneDrive, Teams, etc.) or services that use Feide login.

MS 365

  • For Microsoft 365, two-factor authentication begins with this login window appearing on your computer:

Feide

  • To log in with Feide, you must choose to log in with the "Use work or school account" button:
Image may contain: Rectangle, Font, Parallel, Screenshot, Circle.

You are prompted to set up two-factor authentication

If you have not set up two-factor authentication, you'll see the diallouge shown below when logging in to MS 365 or Feide. You will need to set up for two-factor authentication to continue.

Some also use another type of two-factor authentication with TSD, Educloud or as operational users. These must now also use two-factor authentication against MS 365 and Feide.

Do you want to know more?

Two-factor authentication is now an IT service at UiO, so you will find information and guidance on the IT service pages. To make it easy, the introduction project has created a shortcut there called uio.no/two-factor.

To get the best user experience, everyone is recommended to use the Microsoft Authenticator app on their mobile phone for login authentication. Read the guide for setting up two-factor authentication, and make the settings recommended there. Then you don't have to confirm with a code, but just need to press "Approve" in the app on your mobile.
