Last class, i considered first order transport equations and obtained explicit formulas for their solutions by using the method of characteristics. I also derived the Heat and Laplace equations.

In the next lecture, i will start with the Laplace equation in one dimension.

For group lesson on this friday, prepare exercises 1.5, 1.6 and 1.7.

For group lesson on friday 2nd of february, prepare exercises 1,2, 1.3, 1.4,1.15 and project 1.3.

Today, i gave details about the course and covered some aspects of ODEs and numerical methods for ODEs. Next lecture, i will cover first order equations 1.4.1 and 1.4.2 and if time permits, start with chapter 2.
